You can do crossover tags which means you can tag clients from different contact groups. Select the clients you want to tag from the All Contacts group.

You can manually tag a contacts by going the contact profile and then select Contact Info tab. On the left side you'll see Tags, click the Add Tag button and select the tag that you would like to add.
